Location
Grebaštica is a small tourist resort, situated in a deep bay of the peninsula Oštrica. It is an ideal place for a quiet family holiday and for those who want to enjoy clean sea and numerous pebble beaches. In addition to the nearby city of Sibenik, trips to the national parks Krka and Kornati can also be done for organized tour groups.
Grebaštica as existed in this area since Roman times, as evidenced by the remains of Roman architecture and the Roman sarcophagus lid. According to written sources, it was mentioned for the first time - as "Grebac" - in 1298. The Church of St. Marie was built in 1668 on the site of the church that had been destroyed during the Turkish invasion of Dalmatia at the end of the 15th and beginning of the 16th century. In order to defend against the Turks, the defensive wall, known as "Bedem", was built on the peninsula Oštrica. Today it is one of the symbols of the village.
